Beautiful stitches (from here)

I have never wanted anything more than some curtains for our new apartment. I was daydreaming about ones that look like these ones from Urban Outfitters:
But oh no, I don’t have $500 to spend on curtains. And I felt like I didn’t want my living room to look like this anymore.

So we went to Target, as one usually does in these situations, and happened upon some bed sheets. Can sheets be curtains? Well of course they can.

Step One. Acquire sheets from Target (FYI, you should totally buy full sheets, not twin. Will save you hours of measuring.)
Step Two. Measure, draw some sketches, then just decide to make them the same size as the Urban Outfitter ones (44x84).

Step Three. Spend a significant amount of your afternoon ironing.
Step 3.5. (When you get tired of ironing after 10 minutes…) Measure and cut out two panels. I added 1/2” on the sides, an extra 7” on the bottom, and 5” on the top. And then get back to your ironing.
Required Step Four. Sew em up. I did two 1/4” foldovers on the sides, a 2” and 5” foldover on the bottom, and a 2” and 3” foldover on the top. (I went with what felt right at the time, and it turned out ok. Just go with your instincts.)
Step Five. Hang em up.

I am constantly afraid that the guy is going to forget what I look like, so I like to give him pictures of us. I have decorated frames for him in the past, but this time, I thought I would decorate the pictures themselves. I have been practicing my embroidery, so I decided to embroider some designs onto the photos.

We have been taking a lot of photos on the phone lately, so they are all tiny pictures. Good thing I found some tiny frames at Target. Then I drew a design, punched some connect-the-dots holes in the paper, then sewed away. Best part of this project is that even if I mess up a little, he won’t notice and will still love it anyway.
